    Posted Oct 25, 2010 09:41 AM

    Hello,

I am attempting to download the latest version of LiveUpdate from

    ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/liveupdate/3.5/lusetup.exe

When I attempt to do this, I get "Unsupported OS" error.

Clients in our environment have been receiving Live Update errors ever since we upgraded to RU6 MP1. As a workaround we rely on this version of LiveUpdate.

Please advise how to download latest version of Live Update for Window 7 OS, 32-bit (and 64-bit)

try to delete and download again; u can see the 3.3 verision in CD1 SEPM or SEP folder of SEP 11.0

    once downloaded

    right click setup.exe select properties

if u find unblock option ; check that

run the install as an administrator.

I tried it and receive the same error.

When I right-click on the setup icon and click properties, there is a button that says "Unblock" I press the button and then the "Unblock" button gets greyed out. I then press "Apply." When I "Run as Administrator", I get the same error.

Please note, I tried downloading to desktop, Administrator folder, Hard disk folder.

Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 require a newer version of LiveUpdate than was included prior to Symantec Endpoint Protection RU5.

    Solution

    Workaround for issue:
    1. Open and log into Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
    2. Select Admin
    3. Select the 11.0.5002.0 package you wish to deploy (either WIN32BIT or WIN64BIT)
    4. Click on Export Client Install Package
    5. Enter the folder location for the client package
    6. Uncheck the box for create a single .EXE file for this package.
    7. Select Settings and Features desired and Policy settings and Mode and click on OK
    8. After the package has finished exporting open the Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.5002.333_RU5 CD 1\SEP directory and copy the LuCheck.exe and LUSETUP.EXE in to the folder where expanded package was exported overwriting the existing LuCheck.exe and LUSETUP.EXE.

I was also advised to disable UAC, reboot, then try to install again. Will try this also.
