Endpoint Protection 11.0.2000.1567; managed client.  Def = Friday, June 25 2010 r21.  I noticed my hard drive space was declining slowly, and have isolated the file LUF5.tmp located in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\LiveUpdate as the culprit. It is currently over 7 GB and growing at a rate of approx. 1 GB every 10 minutes. Restarting the computer begins the process over (the file is small). Overnight the file managed to take over 100GB of space.
