    Hello all

Symantec Endpoint maybe has one big problem with huge ZIP files. Some computers on our network display the following behaviour:

When the computer is idle, the memory allocation goes to 100%, the computer becomes unusable and does not lower the memory allocation until a restart.

One of these computers has 32Gb of ram and and after one hour it goes to 28Gb of RAM being used without any programs running.

Uninstalling the AV solves the issue, but running without an AV is not an option.

Both Taskmanager and RamMap does not display abnormal memory utilization, but these computers hapen to have a several huge zip file on disk (>4 Gb). RamMap was able to identify that these files are being used by some app.

After this memory problem (tipically after lunch, when the computer is idle), I can't delete or move the file because Endpoint is using it (windows message).

My guess is that Endpoint loads the file to memory and, because they are very large, takes all the RAM it can get.

Is there a way to prevent scanning of large files?

    Best regards

Can't say I've seen this with large ZIP files. Do you know if these are the files being scanned when bad performance hits? Do you know what endpoint process is doing this?
