I am having a problem with multicast and timeout.

When I try to restore an image to more than one desktop ( Lenovo 3000 J100 with RTL8100C nic ) using pxe-boot, ghostcastservice and multicast, the pc's will hang in the ghost-application and a timeout is reported. A restore with only one pc will work all right using multicast.

The ghostserver ( Ghost Solution Suite 2 ) is running on a win2003. The 3com pxe- and tftpservice is an older installation, that was installed together with an earlier version of ghost. However the PXE-menu file has been recreated using the new version of ghost.exe.

In addition I must mention, that in order to work at all, the ghost.exe - command must be followed by the parameter -NOIDE on theese particular pc's.

Any ideas of what could be the problem with this multcast?

    Best regards

I am still a little new to ghost so bare with me.  I hear somewhere that you had to have 10 connection for ghost to accept a multicast session.  If there is less then 10 clients then ghost will default to unicast.  could be wrong.  just thowing that out there  :)

    Hi David

Thanks for your comment. However I am only using 2 pc's for the testing, and the GSS has been activated.

    Best regards
