  • 1.  Multiple IP's in Email Headers

    Hello,

I'm new to Brightmail Gateway, and in the process of a 30 day trial. How do I configure SBG to read the header of an email, and read the "originating" ip address and not the last ip address that SBG sees. SBG is currently the gateway for the protected test domain, and it also receives emails from 2 other servers located in front of SBG. I'm trying to get accurate Reputation results.

    Thanks.

    Good question!

If I understand your question correctly the answer is No, We do not Scan ALL IP addresses in the header of the message.  For Brightmail Gateway version 9 you can look on page 104 of the Administration Guide for information about adding Internal Mail Hosts to the Appliance to effectively "Skip" those IP's in scanning.  Unfortunately because of your non-gateway deployment you do miss out on a lot of the reputation features that the Appliance utilizes.
