We are deploying SEP Small Business v12 to our company. We have private network inside our office where is multiple managed clients installed on laptops and one Protection Center to manage those clients.

We also have one Windows Server 2008 R2 outside of this office network and it never connects to our network. The question is that can we install another Protection Center and managed client to this machine or is it better just install unmanaged client to this? Does the SEP SB v12 licence allow multiple Protection Centers? Can we get any information (for ex. reports) from unmanaged client to email like the Protection center does?

    Thank's.

How many systems/servers you have which is not connecting to your network. If it is a very small number it is better to go for unmanaged client....

I am not able to find an option for setting a mail notification in the unmanaged client. For getting this info I think you have to login to this server and check.Or do you have some other softwares that is capable of sending mail based on the events created? If yes this KB can help you.(This KB is for v 11,I think it will work for v 12 also.If I am wrong somebody pls correct me.)

Do you have any suggestions for a software which can send specific events by email because I don't know any?

We have only 1 server in different network. So I think unmanaged client is better for this purpose. Correct me if I am wrong but problem with unmanaged client is that we can't have any information from that automatically to email (for ex. virus infections, attacs)?

you cannot get any info wrt to unmanged clients these logs are stored with the client

you an install additional protection center; if the number of client computers are more

if you  have very few then installing them as unmanaged will save ; time /space/load on your server.

you may refer this document if you want one manager for all your clients which are inside and outside of your network

    Thank's everybody.

I think I just install at first this client as unmanaged and check status weekly or so on. The server is running many important (heavy load) services so the extra load of the protection center was a good point.

External protection center was a very intresting idea if we could manage this external server (public IP without nat) from our office network protection center... But this sollution needs some time to configure.

Third thing is that I noticed that with managed client scans etc. are shown on standard Windows event log. If it is same with unmanaged client maybe I could send weekly those eventlog files from server to email somehow.
