    Hello,

I have a customer that has lost the server that is their SEP Manager.  Their policy was set to not allow Client initiated updates.  I need to make the client update without the SEP Manager.

If the client machine has Internet connectivity  go to Start >> run >> and type LUALL and hit enter. This will manually update the virus definitions on the client.

You may download the intelligent updater and update the clients using this file. It will only update the Antivirus and Antispyware definitions. This may be a good temporary solution to save internet bandwidth.

Download the Intelligent Updator from : http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=savce

AZI, unless the "Use Liveupdate Server" checkbox in the Liveupdate Policy on the SEP console  is selected, the systems will give you a message that everything is up to date.  In order to run LUALL from a command line and have it successfully execute, the checkbox has to be enabled.

    Try this
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\LiveUpdate
AllowManualLiveUpdate 0- means liveupdate button will be greyed out. 1-means it will be available to click.
In the same place you can enable product updates by changing the value of
    EnableProductUpdates to 1
For Scheduling and Enabling automatic liveupdates.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\LiveUpdate\Schedule
    Change the value of
Enabled to 1 – for Automatic updates.
