  • 1.  Need in memory virus scanner for file upload in asp.net mvc web site

    Hi,

    I am looking for virus scanner which will scan file during file upload operation from asp.net application or windows form application. 

    Expectation is before saving file on server it should be scanned in memory by virus scanner and provide info whether file is infected or not.

    Or scan filestream received from client side to server side and provide report.

    I was looking into solutions online and I found solution as first we need to save file on temporary folder than scan it. I am not looking for this solution.

    Will symantec fits here?

    Do symantec has .net api to do that... if yes, kindly share details how to do it or link having information about it?

    Kindly help.

    SEP would scan any time a file is accessed or modified. It can also scan files on remote computers.

    Hi Brian,

    my expectations is related to scan file stream in .net application targeting C# asp.net

    As per link http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/streamscanrequest-not-streaming-realtime Symantec has SDK/API for c# .net application to scan file stream.

    I require full information related to this SDK/API or links having this information so that I can implement it.

    I have read in manual at link ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/symantec_scan_engine/5.2/manuals/Software_developers_guide.pdf

    It mentioned abt .net API at folder Scan_Engine_SDK/C#/Docs/SymCSharpAPIDocs.chm on the product CD.

    Unfortunately, I do downloaded manual online and I do not have product CD with me. Also, I tried to search online for this .net api but I do not see it is available online.

    Could you also provide me link to download "Symantec ICAP client using .NET API"?

    I am creating POC application to scan file stream using Symantec virus scanner. Is it possible to use evaluation version without lisence for my POC application?

    I have found link http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=cs for Scan engine. Will this link suitable for me as I only require scan engine which can scan file stream?

    No,above link virus defination available not any app.
