  • 1.  Network Threat Protection crashes PC when running old DOS program, disabling fixes it, unistalling component does not???

    Posted Nov 05, 2009 05:19 AM
    Client 11.0.5002.333 (Win XP SP2)
    Server 11.0.5002.333

I need to be able to run an old DOS program on a PC, but with Network Threat Protection enabled it crashes the PC.

If I disable Network Threat Protection via the console, then run the DOS program it does not crash the PC.

Adding exceptions for the file/folder/process via the console on the server and locally on the PC does not solve the problem and it still crashes the PC.

Manually disabling the Network Threat Protection every morning is a pain.

As I understand it the only way to disable the Network Threat Protection permanently is to uninstall the feature, I tried this but it still crashes the PC with it uninstalled!

Whats the difference with disabling and removing the feature, is there any other way to disable the Network Threat Protection permanently?

Has anyone else come across a issue like this and/or found a workaround?

Thanks for any and all replies.

    Jim

    Hi Fatih,

No the machine crashes, and reboots itself, no blue screen, no lock up.

When starting the DOS program, it appears to go to a black DOS screen (which is normal when it starts successfully) but then a second later the BIOS screen appears as the PC boots back up.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Ok i understood. I thing so this about windows problem.
first of all right click computer and select properties, select advanced tab, click settings button under startup and recovery.
new window will open. clear checkbox "automatically restart" under systemfailure.
therefore we can see the bluescreen. we must to show it becase we can see the error code. like 0x08500ef etc.
and if there is no problem for install sp3 please install windows xp sp3.
    Thanks
    Fatih.

    Hi Fatih,

    I've done that and got a blue screen the following errors were seen when running the DOS program;

    *** STOP: 0x0000008e (0xC0000005,0xBF039614,0xAA7AC820,0x00000000)

    *** ati2dvag.dll - Address BF039614 base at BF012000, DateStamp 49169caf

Hopefully that helps!  I will arrange to upgrade the PC to SP3 asap.

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Hello again Jim
i search ati2dvag.dll on google. it is ati graphic card driver. are you using onboard VGA or PCI Express card?
I thing so you are running DOS program will full screen. that's why this dll file give error. update your vga driver. if you have onboard VGA maybe change your computer. ( i read someone change mainbord for this problem. company gived new one in Turkey)
I hope this help to you.
    Thanks
