  • 1.  New server to replace existing primary server

    Folks,

I'm in the process of building a new Windows 2003 server which is going to replace our existing primary SAV server. The new server will take the existing server name and IP address to save any complication with exisiting firewall rules, etc. The SAV Corporate Edition version we are currently using is 10.1.7.7000 but I'm looking for the best approach \ least amount of hassle to make sure the exisitng groups and clients continue to communicate with the primary server.

Any tips \ help would be much appreciated.

    Rgds,
    G

Install SAV secondary server and SSC on the New 2003 .
Drag and Drop all the clients from Primary server to the new secondary server.
RIght Click and make the new server as Primary server.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

If I'm going to use the same name \ ip address for the new server, once I move all the clients across to 'newserver' from 'oldserver', can I simply power off, rename the 'newserver' to 'oldserver' and all the clients should work?

After moving every client to new server it is not recommendable to change the IP/hostname of the new server.. Without renaming you can keep the new server  and you can remove old server from the network .. If you want to keep the old name only refer the following discussion
