    Hello world!

I'm a new Altiris admin with prior experience being a senior level systems tech.  In my prior role, I would push software/patches to end user PC's and would find points of failure when the jobs would fail.  Being new to this job, I'm still unfamiliar with some things.  Any suggestions on getting me where I need to be?  Training & etc.?

Symantec has about 46 hours of free eLearning courses, if you take them all:

The course on patch management is for version 6.2, so take the course on Server Management Suite if you are on version 7.

It's kind of confusing at first but you have to add the eLibrary option to your cart as if you were going to buy it.  Once you go through the checkout process, you should have access to it.  See the video below on how to go through the process:

I've done the eLibrary option and it has a lot of options.  I found another way of learning that is showing me how all the nodes and such work together.  Because we need to upgrade to 7.5 in our environment, I went ahead and setup a NS and a task server to mimic our environment and I will be upgrading it to 7.5.  It seems to be helping a lot.  I think the biggest thing for me will be writing things in VBscript and get back to learning SQL (again)...
