  • 1.  No connection to SMC services?

    Posted Aug 07, 2018 03:02 PM

I am unable to install any version of 14.x clients on windows 10 1803 machines on my domain. I receive the following error after reboot.

I have tried running cleanwipe and the re-installing with no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of SEP exactly? Have you tried with the latest or at least RU1? Download and run SymDiag to see what it shows.

Take a look at your Windows Application Event logs.

    Is ccsvchst.exe crashing?

I had 14.0.3929.1200 in place on all domain computers, started receiving the error on new deployments, then upgraded management center and tried new deployment of 14.2.770.0000 with same result.

ccvchst.exe is not crashing... I have read the message boards for two days now looking for a solution. I went on vacation for a week and came back to this problem. to my knowledge, no changes have been made to any GPOs. I have no idea where the problem is. I am using the same sysprep windows image and the same deployment package (have tried multiple packages), and they all have this same error, on every new machine.

It is extremely urgent that I resolve this matter. Thank you in advance!

Did you get a case opened up and escalated? I'd suggest doing that ASAP.

You can run SymDiag while reproducing the issue and get those logs up to support for analysis.

I tried to open support case through symdiag on multiple machines, symdiag cannot login to symantec account to create case. I opened case over phone, and replied to intiial email to submit report from symdiag and it returned size too big error. now I have been on the phone for an hour with tier 1 technical support, and they now have me on hold because they have no idea.

has anyone encountered this issue before? is it possibly a GPO setting?

problem solved.. the solution was to remove all custom IPS policies before building install package. This is more of a workaround rather than an actual fix though.
