  • 1.  not able to start ccsvchst.exe

    Hi All,

    Whenever I tried to restart the symantec services in windows server 2012 by using the command smc - stop & then smc -start, I am getting an error i.e. "Access denied". The smc - stop command is able to stop only "SmcService" but not able to stop "SepMasterService". It is showing as "Stopping" for SepMasterService continuously, but not able to stop it. When I tried to start it again, it gives an error "Access Denied".

    Tamper protection is already disabled.

    Please suggest any solution, as I am seeing this problem mostly in Windows Server 2012 machines.

    Thanks in advance.

    smc -stop only stops the "SmcService", you won't be able to stop the "SepMasterService"

    I believe this is by design.

    Try running a repair of the client first. You can also run the symhelp tool to troubleshoot.

    Hi Brian.

    Tried repairing. But, didn't work. Any other way to stop SepMaster service, so that it could be restarted.

    @James- UAC are disabled.

    @Brian - Without rebooting, is there any way that we can stop this service(i.e. sepmaster).
