  • 1.  Number of Tasks Limit?

I'm contemplating a workflow process that could have as many as 500 tasks attached to it.  These tasks would be relatively simple (Dialog Workflow components with Process Manager Task Source) but would exist concurrently using the advanced workflow library.

I'd be using the tasks as a mechanism for tracking external processes so I would primarily rely on esalation time-outs and probably some sort of external management workflow to close/process the individual tasks.

Is this feasible?  Does anyone have any experience on the impact this would have on the Process Manager or the workflow server?  I know ServiceDesk runs with potentially thousands of process instances but I'm wondering if there is a limit on task instances or something else I'm not aware of that would make this un-workable.

I will of course trial this myself but I thought I'd pose the question see if there is any first-hand knowledge out there.

Database wise, you have a pretty good upper limit, way more than 500. However, the more tasks you add, the longer the Process Page will take to render. so the Process Page is the real concern for crashing here.

Thanks for this reecardo, thinking about it, not all the tasks need to run concurrently so I might try creating them in sets around the time they are needed.  I'd like to make use of the Process Page.
