Hi, has anyone deployed office 2007 SP3? Looking for some advice/pointers regarding checks etc...

because i wanted a controlled roll out I found it easiest to use deployment console 6.9. I could target users better.

To create the install basically you run the office 2007 setup with a /admin and create an msp file with all your settings.

I then put a message as the first part of the job asking the user to close all office apps. Then the job and then a message at the end.

The only other thing to note was that i added the return codes 1641 and 3010 as success codes, as they only mean that the pc needs a reboot.

Whilst testing the install would upgrade office 2003 without closing it first and the user didnt notice anything. But to be on the safe side I ran the message first.

I do now have it set up on NS7.1, which checks for compliancy. Better for new builds.

    Steve.

hi, thanks for that. I have setup a job and the agent has reported it as failed but it looks to have successfully installed. How do i find out what error code its passing so I can add it to the success options in the software job ? (I already added the 2 you mentioned)

ah...looking at another job I think i may have to add 0 as well.

Look at these links to get a better idea of the error codes:

I had a few troubles in the beginning, but I added some of those that could raise your eye brows though the install went successfully.
