How is Altiris going to handle feature updates for Office 2016 standalone (not Office 365)?

I see there are patches in the metadata import but, I cannot find any documentation on feature updates being imported so that they can be managed and rolled out via the console.

According to technical support.

Altiris will only handle the patches, it will not support feature updates for Windows 10 or Office 2016 (standalone not O365) although there may be updates integrated into a patch so those are the outliers.

may you clarify what standalone Office 2016 feature updates do you reference?
My understanding was that Microsoft didn't plan to produce feature updates for non-365 version of Office.
