Endpoint Protection

I am getting an error and from what I have read this is bad.  In Exchange, running eseutil /MS to get the freespace.txt file dump, we get the following error-Operation terminated with the following error -1022 (Jet_errDiskIO, Disk IO error) after xx seconds.Any suggestions on what we need to do to fix this? We are running Exchange Server 2003 standard and Windows Server 2003 standard. I am not insinuating endpoint is the problem.  I am just saying that a lot of other tech support sites like to blame endpoint.    I just want to make sure you understand that I don't think it is endpoint but I want to verify.  We are also running Symantec Mail Security on this server.
