I have noticed that Operating System itself detected as software in Inv_AddRemoveProgram table.

This behavior is only reported for Win7 in ITMS 7.5 SP1.

Hello Emil,

Have you checked the ARP control panel applet on some of those machines to see if they have anything listed there with that actual display name? 

Also, has any type of import been done via connector solution which may have populated that table?

I faced the same but did not give much attention to it. After upgrading to 7.6 it stopped happening.

Support informed me the proper way to get OS listed was using Targetted Software Inventory.  Support didn't explain why it was appearing and further explained it shouldn't be used.

I have noticed this as well however, I still see this happening in 7.6 (fresh install).

Open "Resource Manager" ⇒ type there Windows 7 Enterprise x64 ⇒ "View" ⇒ "Inventory"

I also see it in 7.6 (Upgraded from 7.5 SP1) and it is not only Windows 7.

I see it as a "feature" and have used it in reports and filters.
