  • 1.  Package share straddling multiple drives

In the process of capturing an updated Windows 7 image, space on some of our package servers has become an issue.  The disk in which package service is installed became full, or was detected that the *.gho wouldnt fit on the drive.  It then placed the image on to another drive in the server.  I resolved the space issue on the package server disk, but it keeps putting the image on to the other drive.  How can I fix this?  I have tried stopping all of the symantec and altiris services, deleteing the files and directories on the 2nd disk, but as soon as i restart those services it starts putting the image back on the 2nd disk rather than the package server disk which now has plenty of space.

This could be made a mute issue if this feature were available:

Have you checked if default location was overwritten?

Settings > All Settings > Deployment and Migration > Disk Images > %YourImage%

The source of image has not changed.  it's the destination on the recieving package server that is an issue.  Normally, this is on the same disk as where the agent is installed on the server unless you specify an alternate path on the package servers tab.  The issue I'm having is that the agent deteccts that there isnt enough room in this location and then places it on another partition.  In this case thankfully I had another partition other than the OS partition.  I freed up space on the package partition, but still tries to put it on another partition.

In this particular case I am no longer having this issue, but aside from throwing space at the problem, i don't see any way of preventing this in the future.
