Hi,

some of our employees are working with Outlook 2010 in offline-mode.

E-Mails remain in Outlook outbox until they connect to the Exchange server. Since PGP v10.2 e-mails that still are in Outbox are also shown in sent elements.

If you delete any Mail from outbox it still remains in sent elements.

In some cases e-mails are shown twice in sent elements.

Is there any way to prevent PGP from doing so?

First of all , sorry about the delay. This has been really busy week...

You can try this:

Open PGP Desktop window, Tools menu, Notifier tab, Check "Always ask me before sending email"

You can also take a look at Messaging tab.

these settings have no impact on outlook / PGP behavior. Sent elements are shown even if emails are still in outbox due to Outlook offline mode.

Deletion auf email from outbox does not delete the duplicated email in sent elements.

At least the automatic deletion of the duplicated email in sent elements would be nice.

How is PGP related to this problem?

Outlook offline mode behaviour is not to stores outbox as well as sent emails?

Here is the error description again. Maybe next time you want to ask immediately if something is not clear. I know my english is not the best but i'm quite sure everybody can understand what i mean.

With PGP: in the moment i send an email the email is shown in 'sent element' AND in 'Outbox'. The moment i delete a mail from outbox in offline mode (maybe i decided not to send this email in the end...) the email is not deleted from sent elements.

Wihtout PGP: the mail is only shown in outbox until it's really sent so there's no problem.

Now you maybe want to tell me why it should not be a PGP related Problem?! PGP seems to manipulate outlook e-mail handling what might be ok when it's done correctly. But creating duplicates and not deleting the copy when the originial is deleted is definately not correct! So please fix it.

Hello, I have the same problem I installed PGP and now outlook only works offline when I try to send an email it just stays in teh outbox forever. I have resarted to no avail. Please help! thanks

I have some information from developement team:

 Mail sits in Outbox forever

PGP desktop v10.1.0.1139 or v10.2.0.238 64bit
Windows 7 professional 64
Outlook 2010 32bit

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install PGP desktop and reboot
2. Open Outlook and send the test email (attached)

Actual result:
The test email sits in Outbox forever

Expected result:
The test email sent out right away

Notes: Tried both v10.1.0.1139 and v10.2.0.238, same result.

change keyserver.pgp.com to your own server or deleted, the problem will be disappeared.

 Steps to duplicate.

1.    Install 10.2.0 MP2HF4 on a 32 bit windows XP system with outlook
2007.
*NOTE: this is the test environment I tested on it may happen with other OS/E-
mail client combinations.
2.    Enable messaging.
3.    Send an email to a recipient, from my testing and the customer’s
experience it does not matter if the recipient is on the same domain.

Expected: Email is sent to recipient after it goes through PGP mail proxy.

Actual: Email is sent out, the email gets stuck in the outbox and every time
outlook is opened the email is sent again.

Comment:

seems very similar to issue 2621722 that just got fixed in MP3.

thank you for your response but these hints unfortunately have nothing to do with this case.

Once again. PGP works correct but the E-Mail handling seems to have changed since version 10.2

You can reproduce the error by doing the following:

OS: Windows 7 (SP1)

E-Mail-Client: Outlook 2010 (SP1)

PGP Desktop E-Mail: 10.2 (MP3)

- Start Outlook and set it to offline mode (usually connected to exchange server)

- write an email and send it (dont care outlook is in offline mode)

- the email is shown in outbox and in sent elements (PGP seems to duplicate the email. what would be ok, if the sender did not decide that he did not want to send the email anymore)

- delete the email from outbox. the email still remains in sent elements (maybe no usual case, but it could happen). so there is an inconsistency between objects in sent elements and emails that are really sent

In cases the user does not delete the mail from outbox the duplicate will be removed by PGP after the email is actually sent.

This is a minor issue but should be fixed in next version, shouldn't it?

Disable Secure email (Tools, Options, Messaging tab)

 you can check the logs after sending the email in tools, view log for some information.

Also, you can upgrade to 10.2 MP4 version.

thank you for your response. Disabling "secure email" resolves the issue as uninstalling PGP does. As you can imagine we use PGP for securing our emails...so this is no option at all.

No change after installing PGP Desktop Email 10.2 MP4
