  • 1.  PGP Desktop (SED) Out of memory error

    Posted Nov 09, 2016 01:02 PM

We run PGP Universal Server 3.4 MP1 and corresponding PGP Desktop 10.4MP1 (and varying versions in the past).

    This happens to almost everyone.

The PGP Desktop "update policy" command responds with this error.

    "Info: policy update manually invoked

Info: beginning synchronization with configuration server

Error: synchronizing with : out of memory (-11999)"

The daily log says this when the user logs in, so I know that the automatic policy update works.

    "Info: initiating daily maintenance procedures

Info: sending logging data to configuration server

Info: Beginning synchronization with configuration server

Info: Completed synchronization with configuration server "

Looking into the client logs on the server for "11999" returns a lot of log errors like this: "CLIENT-31544: client request <uploadKey> returning fault -11999 (unable to determine fault -- out of memory?)" Sometimes the request will be "<generateKey>"

Regardless, the server also has a log entry for the policy download that seems to indicate success.

    "CLIENT-X: policy download [user <username>] <GetGranularPolicy>..."

I would love to know why this happens.

    Hey Mr. Smith...

    You should move to 10.4 MP1 HF1 ( Hotfix1 )
This is available to you at fileconnect.symantec.com and should resolve this issue.

    Cheers,

    Phil

    I'll check the HF1 version.
