  • 1.  PGP Netshare does not prompt for passphrase

Out of everyone using PGP Desktop/Netshare, only one user is experiencing this problem.

Operating system is Windows 7 32bit - Version of PGP is 10.2 MP3 (I have the exact same setup on my system however I am the admin of the Netshare).

When the user accesses the network location where the encrypted folder is located, he can see the lock icon on the folder but when he double clicks to access it, the folder opens without prompting for the passphrase. His credentials are not cached. When he then tries to open a file, (eg, a Word document), Word opens and asks what kind of document it is (formatting) - it shows gibberish.

We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also generating new keys but the issue still remains. Is there anything else I can look at?

    Thanks

Has the NetShare folder been re-encrypted since this user was added to it?

I created a new net share and added 3 keys all at the same time; mine, and two other users. I can access it along with another user but the third user in question cannot. I tried re-encrypting the folder and the same symptoms appear - user does not get prompted.

Is this a PGP Universal managed setting?

I'd suggest looking at the key's Properties; making sure it is set as having Implicit Trust, and particularly that Key Usage includes NetShare.

Thanks Tom. The issue was the license wasn't properly installed - NetShare was not enabled. Readded the license and it works!
