HI Everyone,

    I am not SEP admin but working on to upgrade (side by side) from 12 to 14. I have everything running on SEPM14. My database admin want to move Database (in different server) from SQL2008 to SQL16. So we updated our Database 16. How can i Point SEPM14 to new Database server (sql 16). any step by step routine i need to follow?

Hi Brian, thanks for your respond. I have few questions:

1. This is brand new SEPM, I have imported the policy to this new server, do i still need to copy .MDF, .NDF and .LDF file s to new SQL Server?

2. Do I still need to Detach old database and attached new database?

3. When you run wizard, there are few options to choose, is there step to choose in there to point to new database?

4. Is there way to use DNS Alias rather than server name for sql?

I ran the wizard and seems like it is able to connect fine now.

But after point to new database server, I have two management servers in SEPM getting alert saying server Health Alert "Server has not reported new status in over 10 minutes. Status reported" The server is up and running fine. Do i need to reboot those servers?or is there someelse do i need to do.

If you check the client on those servers, are they connected to SEPM (green dot showing)?

Good to know that the shifting of databse is completed.

For this Health Aler ask DB team to run  DB Maintenance, Profiler, Indexing on databse. see if that works.
