  • 1.  Populate an empty CMDB for pilot / demo

    Hi there,

Is there a tool / script to populate a fresh Symantec CMDB with 'fake' computers & inventory info.

That would be easier to demonstrate Reporting / ITAnalytics capabilities.
(without creating 5 or 10 dummy VMs that only serves this purpose)

    Any help appreciated

There is a tool for creating random users and OU's which should then be imported into the CMDB, but as far as I know, not for inventory detail - just too much detail there to generate and you want to associate with computers that are randomly generated also which makes that doubly hard due to the connections

I'll happily stand corrected by anyone that has a tool but it's not known to me of immediate colleagues.

Having said that, this would be a useful thing to have, but bringing up a few VM's is fairly easy to anyone with an established lab and you quickly get a lot of detail in the CMDB.

    Hi Anthony and Michael

I don´t know if there is a Tool for the 7.5 Release but maybe you can use the Datapop Tool (latest Version is 4.0)  this Tool can be found on http://www.fieldfeedback.com. If you do not have access - email me and i will send you a copy of this tool.
