  • 1.  Possible to install Live Update to different drive?

We have a different partition that we use for programs. Is it possible to install Live Update to a drive other than the C: drive? Whenever I run LUSETUP it defaults to C: and will not let me change it.

You cannot change the location of Liveupdate as it sits in two diffrent places
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate
This is the main folder that consumes disk space and this cannot be changed.Nor will the Liveupdate folder from prograam files can be changed
Even if you install SEP on a another drive liveupdate will go to C ( root drive )
Thats the reason if installing SEP or SEPM on any drive you need some space on C ( <root> )

Ah, that explains it perfectly. We do indeed have SEPM installed to the D: drive, but Live Update just wouldn't on onto the same drive. That makes sense, however.

    Thank you for the responses.

    I would investigate using a hardlink or a symlink - http://shell-shocked.org/article.php?id=284

I havent tested this as I dont currently have the same requirement, but you would need to do something similar to the following:

    - rename the liveupdate directories you want to move to liveupdate2
    - create hard or sym links to the new liveupdate folder destination
    - copy all files from liveupdate2 folder to new liveupdate folder
    - run luall and see if it worked

Let us all know how you get on.
