Problem of Application metering

    Hi!

    Do not come messages start and stop programs that are put on monitoring in Application metering.

    In the agent logs on the client PC errors are detected (see the attached file).

    Hi Igor.

     

    I suggest you to configure a simple rule only for test the solution. You can set "calc.exe" , configure a message and apply the policy to a computer. After this test you will really know if the solution is working or not.

     

    By the way, could you share prints of your metering policy with us? I would like to check if everything is fine.

    Hi, Fernando!

    Application metering folder not created. This can be seen from the screenshots attached.
    The first screenshot shows my problem - there is no folder with the start and stop programs. On the second screenshot folder to start and stop the program have there, before I had one too. But now, after the starts and stops recording program no longer fixed, and the folder is gone.
    Plus I made 3 full screenshot (winword_screen) of my test with the settings should be applied policy. I just used the "winword.exe" instead of "calc.exe". But if necessary, I can make a copy of the policy and to "calc.exe"?

    Hi Igor,

    events will be sent 'Daily' (not immediately), if you have set 'Record usage events' - 'Daily' for Application Metering policy and application was really started/blocked/stopped during a day.

    Hello, Igor!
    Yes, I'm aware of that. Events come to the NS and to the DB not immediately, but after some time. Usually no earlier than 2 hours after the start and stop programs.
    But it took more than two weeks and I have tried to adjust the different monitoring programs, but no result. Events not come to NS and not come to DB.

    Igor, thank you for the information. I did not know about her.
    I checked it on the client's PC, but I did not find the folder "MeteringInventoryLastSent" in the registry. This folder does not exist. 
    The agent "Software Management Solution Agent (Version = 8.0.2225)" is installed. Screenshots are attached.

    This KB is little bit outdated.

    Now "MeteringInventoryLastSent" is located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AMAgent

    Sergey Ankudinov, yes, the new version of the folder is in another place.
    The last "sent" was today.
    But the data on "NS" and "DB" did not arrive.

    Checked many areas of potential problem cause for this case. We are arrived with D.Igor on step when Plug-ins will be upgraded to latest version on affected machines and will see further behavior there for app metering events sending.

    Tested - once the agents were fully updated to v.8, they immediately stopped sending data on starting and stopping the software.
    Probably the problem is with a new version of the server.
    All modules are installed in turn:
    - "Symantec Management Agent";
    - "Inventory agent";
    - "Application Accounting Agent".

    In the table "Inv_Monthly_summary" all startups and stops of programs with problematic PCs are fixed, but only in "Inv_Monthly_summary" they are written not in lots of lines, but summary value.
    Probably the problem is with the transfer of data from the agent in the tables "Evt_Application_Start" and "Evt_Application_Stop".
