  • 1.  problem to install sav and scs saparetly using ssc

    Hi All,

I deployed SAV and SCS to client pc saparetly. When I want to upgrade the client using SSC, wonder why both SAV and SCS will install together in one pc.
I just want, if that pc currently installed with SAV, only need SAV to install, while if the pc currently installed with SCS, only need SCS to install.

How need I do or if any way to make sure it will install depend on current av? Anyone please advice. Your kind help is most appreciated.

In case you haven't seen these already:

    Installing Symantec AntiVirus without SCS:

How to create a customized package for SAV:

I understand these are not exactly answering your question. You want a package that will be able to detect the current environment on the client and then only apply those updates that are currently on the machine, right? Can I ask why you don't just push out SAV and SCS to all of the clients anyway and save yourself the headache? You might want to consider this, and then in the few cases where the machines can't have a firewall (for whatever reason) you can just push those installs out seperately. I am assuming this will be only a few cases so this seperation won't be a huge deal. Hopefully someone has a better answer for you, but these should give you and idea of how to create the package once you do decide on how to detected the environment.

    Cheers

    To Grant_hall,

Yes. We want to install the update to apply only to what current machine apply to. we dont push sav and scs to one machine coz here, we apply sav in desktop and scs to laptop. for desktop since it always in the network so no need the firewall. We only install scs in laptop. And for creating the package, can u explain more? Appreciated if you can brief from the link given how could i do at my end since look many configuration.

Currently I create package using SMS (system management server) to push sav and scs to our clients. I'll doing it saparately for sav and scs. But oso want to know ur idea about creating package u r told.

Your kind help is much appreciate.

    Hi Grant_hall,

Pertaining to your post above about creating customized package in SAV, it is same like we install SAV using command-line parameters? I never go through this one yet but just want to know where the script should be add? It is in GRCSrv.DAT file on parent server? Or create a new Grc.dat file and place it in the directory with the source files used for installation? Confuse already..

Hope grant_hall or anyone can explain. Your explanation is most appreciate.
