I have installed Symantec Endpoint Protection manager 12.1.1 on Windows 7 machine which acts as Antivirus server. I want to install client on Windows server 2012 R2 (64 bit). I tried to install once, but unable to open Symantec endpoint protection.

I want to know the following things.

    1) Can i upgraded Endpoint Protection manager 12.1.5 at free of cost? If yes, how to upgrade.

    2) Procedure to install client on windows server2012 R2 (64 bit) - Symantec Endpoint Protection manager 12.1.1 ?

    Thanks,

    Murthy

12.1.5 is free to download if you already own 12.1

Download from https://symantec.flexnetoperations.com using your serial number

This is the required step to get this to work for 12.1.5

System Requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5

SEP 12.1.1  does not support windows 2012 r2 (64 bit)

    You need upgrade SEPM 12.1.5.

Upgrade or migrate to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5

    Hello,

    Here are your answers:

    1) Can i upgraded Endpoint Protection manager 12.1.5 at free of cost? If yes, how to upgrade.

Yes. It is Free of Cost. Check this Article for Upgrading procedure -

Upgrade or migrate to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH224034

    2) Procedure to install client on windows server2012 R2 (64 bit) - Symantec Endpoint Protection manager 12.1.1 ?

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1.5 is supported on Windows Server 2012 R2

System Requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH224712

Once the SEPM has been migrated to 12.1RU5, Upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection clients

You do not need to uninstall previous clients before you install the new version. The overinstall process saves the client settings, and then upgrades the client to the latest version.

Note: Clients that are Group Update Providers (GUPs) should be upgraded before other Symantec Endpoint Protection clients. (GUPs are not a feature of Small Business Edition.)

Review the applicable steps to prepare computers to install Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.x clients, and choose from one of the available methods to upgrade clients to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5:

    • Auto-Upgrade: Assign client packages to groups in the manager console, either manually or by using the Upgrade Clients with Package wizard.

For Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition clients, this occurs automatically after you upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. No further action is required on your part to complete the upgrade process. To disable automatic upgrades, in the console, go to the Computers page, right-click your Group, click Properties, and then check Disable Automatic Client Package Updates.

    • LiveUpdate – In the manager console, permit product updates through the LiveUpdate Settings policy for a client group (enterprise version only).
    • Installation File - Use the installation file you download from Symantec FileConnect to upgrade the client.
    • Client Deployment Wizard - Run the Client Deployment Wizard in the manager console. This wizard walks you through the creation of a client package that can be deployed via a web link and email, remote push, or saved for later local installation. In the enterprise version, you also have the option to deploy using third-party tools.

    Regards,

    Hi,

Endpoint Protection (Anti-Virus) is installed on a server and 2 machines were running it. It has been removed off 1 of the machines.

I want to install Endpoint Protection (Anit-Virus) on a another standalone machine that is based in another office. There is no way of connecting the machine requiring Endpoint Protection to the server or even the office.

Is there a way in which I can use the same licencing and install Endpoint Protection (Anti-Virus) on the standalone machine?

    Kind Regards,

    Computer Boy

you need to open firewall Port 8014 and replace sylink.xml file.

Communication ports used by Symantec Endpoint Protection

Update sylink.xml to restore communications between Endpoint Protection Manager and clients (SylinkDrop)

Ok great, i'll have a go at installing Unmanaged SEP Client as mentioned in: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH157585.html

Apologies for the novice questions, will Endpoint Protection be installed on the machine after installing Unmanaged SEP Client?
