    Product Version : 12.0 RU1
    Product Language : English
    Platform/OS Info : Windows Server 2003 / Enterprise SP2(x64)
    Platform Language : English
Storage Device Notes : Dell PowerEdge R900

When the Proactive Protection and the Network Threat Protection modules are enabled at the server we get network access problems from the workstations.

If we disable these 2 then we can access server with no problems. But we want to make sure that all of our virus protection is enabled.  This is a critical matter for us.

Network Threat Protection is Firewall + IPS.

If you remove it you will still have Virus Protection on the server.

However rather than removing features I would suggest you to check the Firewall Logs and check which firewall rule is blocking the access and modify/remove that rule.

SEP - View Log- Network Threat Protection -View Log- Traffic Log

I have faced asimilar issue in one of my Client's network and check the NTP Log where i have noticed that NTOSKRNL.EXE is getting block by Firewall, i have just allowed it and the network became accessable.

check the logs and see what rule or traffic is being blocked.
