  • 1.  problem with the pgp test setup in esx server

    Hi,

This is regarding the PGP test setup in ESX server. we have the server in company network, so that we are able to connect to it with vSphere client from our local desktop. And we got the VMs (2 domain controllers with exchange servers, 1 win 7 client with outlook, 1 win xp client with outlook and 1 PGP UN) created and below are the details.

    dc1 - 10.111.2.1, win7 - 10.111.2.10, pgp un - 10.111.2.4

    dc2 - 192.168.10.1, win xp - 192.168.10.14

i am able to access the pgp gui in win 7 machine with https://10.111.2.4:9000/. And i am able to use the netshare features, but unable to use the email gateway features as the connectivity is NOT existing from dc1 to win xp and dc2 to win 7 and pgp un to win 7, win xp.

but there was a connectivity from dc1 to dc2. this entire set up was provided the IT team here and they are saying that, we cant set up the connectivity as mentioned above in esx server and however we can do that in VMWare workstation.

does any one help me with my problem? thanks.

DC1 - Winxp  communication is not possible because they are in different network range.

    The same as for DC2 - Win7

If you  check VMs hardware settings, you will see they are in different network ranges. And I think ESX do not link different network ranges (at least by default)

You should try ping each machine to the other.

Or configure Universal email proxys and LDAP servers pointing to DC1. it must be able to reach it out.

    Thanks for the response.

Yes. I tried and as you mentioned those 2 are NOT in single network range. so i decided to change the IPs of both DC2 and Win Xp to 10.111.2.100 range, so that now all the servers are in same IP range and all are able to ping each other.

Now i need to test the Gateway email functionalities, so how to set up the dc2 as gateway domain so that i will send the encrypted emails from dc1 through PGP UN?

I referred th admin guide and there is NO place where it was mentioned that gateway email settings with in a VM ESXI server. so i am just trying again to verify the Gateway email issue. As of now, i see there is an issue with first DC DNS settings.and keep you posted. Thanks!

When i just changed the IP address with first dc domain name under Manager Domains in PGP UN GUI, it started working fine. So what i am guessing is that, the issue would bewither with the DNS configuration of first dc or with the PGP UN itself (as PGP Gateway may not really work if domain name is NOT mentioned under Managed Domain section in Consumer Policy). Not sure about the exact reason, but the issue is resolved in my case :)
