  • 1.  Problem with SEP client definitions update

    Posted Dec 17, 2009 05:44 AM
I Upgrade my SEPM to the RU5 and start to upgrade the clients to the 11.502.0033.
But now i have a problem with my clients with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 2008 x64 they don't receive updates of virus definitions neither trought proxy server or from the management server.

A litle more information to help, the communications server/client are OK GREEN DOT in all machines, also the latest policies the only problem is the update of virus definitions nothing more.
    already done everything like reinstall/repair.

In the rest of the machines it's working fine.

If anyone could help me I would apreciate.

    Many Thanks

check if the SEPM has been downloaded the x64 bit definition. It could be the reason that SEPM is not updated with 64 bit definition, hence clients are not getting the updates.

I have been updating the definitions manually but the first data was 17/09/2009.
The machines communicate with the SEPM.

The same machine with SEP version 11.0.4202.75 (64 bits) works fine.
    Definitions are not corrupted

I receive an error on Windows event VIEWER APPLICATIONS

The description for Event ID 101 from source Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    error

    Failed unregistering service.

    Thanks for the help

The x64 definitions are being downloaded I have other x64 clients in XP and 2003 and they receive the definitions.
If I install the version of sep before the RU5 everything works fine.

    Thanks for the help

Already done the add/remove to repair and didn't solve also i can see the liveupdate in control panel.
In one of the server's I also have the BES 12.5 and the liveupdate works fine for him.

This problem just happens with SEP client when updating from the SEPM or PROXY.

    Thanks

Our symnatec 11 administrator is running 64 bit windows 7 - He mentioned he had problems installing SEP 11 (and getting updates?); he had to install LIVE UPDATE 1st, then it worked fine... not sure if this is your situation or not; just passing along.[

Disable following one by one and see any difference

Control Panel > User accounts > User account control

    Control Panel > Windows Defender

    Control Panel > Windows Firewall
