    Hello,

I'm running Symantic Endpoint Protection version 12.1.7004.6500.105 on a Windows 10 machine.

I do not know when the issue started occur. Just today (January 19th) I got alerted that Symantec Endpoint Processor was not active. But it was not so a few days ago!

After starting the application, I got a message stating "Your old virus are  out of date..." (attachment SEP.docx - Fig 1)

I followed the message's suggestion, but when trying to click "Liveupdate" by opening the yellow shield,  I got a message stating "Symantec Endpoint Protection cannot open because some Symantec services were stopped" (attachment SEP.docx - Fig 2)

After starting the service for the Symantec Endpont Protection (attacment SEP.docx - Fig 3), I again got a message stating "Your old virus are  out of date..." (attachment SEP.docx - Fig 1)

and another message appeared on the stating "Product error requires attention" (attachmento SEP.docx - Fig 4)

The Symantec Endpoint Protection Service got stopped again

And this goes on in an undending loop

What is the solution for this issue ??? How do I get out of this ???

    Thank You

      Similar to this?

      https://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/unable-open-symantec-endpoint-protection

Was this an upgrade or fresh install? Exact version and when did it start? Also, what OS? Download and run the SymDiag tool for additional error checking.

What happens after running a repair on the SEP client or even simply after a system reboot?

Are you seeing ccsvchst.exe application crashes in the Application Event logs?

As you are running SEP 12.1 RU6 MP5 on Windows 10 you are likely experiencing an issue with a Windows Update.

Depending on your version of Windows 10, please apply one of the following Microsoft Updates:

      •        Windows Server 2016 – KB4057142
      •        Windows Server 2012 R2 – KB4057401
      •        Windows Server 2012 – KB4057402
      •        Windows 10 1709 – KB4073290
      •        Windows 10 1703 – KB4057144
      •        Windows 10 1607 – KB4057142
      •        Windows 8.1 – KB4057401

Once applied the issue should go away.

      Hello John,

Yes, I see some application event log errors for:

           C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.7004.6500.105\Bin\ccSvcHst.exe

But I see also other for:

           c:\windows\system32\consent.exe

apparently every time I try to open the SEP yellow shield

By checking the last Windows 10 updates, on my machine, I found the following:

These are the last "Quality" updates, applied to my Windows 10 machine, on January 15th:

2018-01 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4056887)

Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)

and this one, on January 8th

           2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4056891)

And these "Other Updates", applied to  my Windows 10 machine, on January 15th:

           Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 x64 Edition - January 2018 (KB890830)

So, according to your instruction, I should apply (KB4057144), since it appears I'm using Windows 10 1703. Is that correct ?

Assuming it is correct, by looking at the "Microsoft Update Catalog" I found the below (KB4057144), from January 19th, with size 1027.8 MB

2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4057144), from January 19th

Is that the one I should apply to my machine ?

      Could you please advise ?

      Thank You and Regards,

      Valter

Go to Start > Run > type in Winver and verify you are currently running 1703.

If that is the case, then yes. Download and install KB4057144
