    Hi,

Some of our users are reporting a proxy dialogue box appearing randomly.
    Version v14.0.3752.1000

If the users enters their login details the box fails, if they click cancel the box closes and then shows again, you have to click cancel two or three time for the box to be dismissed.

Any idea why we are seeing this box and how can we stop it.

Do you have a proxy in place in your environment? If so it may need to be configured in SEPM:

    Hi Matgriff,

Our Developers have been looking into a few reports of this issue, and there is a fix for this planned for an upcoming release of the SEP product.

One thing to note is that in our testing, we could only reproduce this behavior when a SEP for Mac client is configured to use a proxy for LiveUpdate access, but that proxy is not reachable from the client.  So the fix our Devs have planned will be to make the error more accurate, and indicate that there was a failure to connect, rather than prompting for credentials.

If you believe you're encountering this popup on clients when they are able to reach their proxy, I'd encourage you to please open a Support case.  Thank you.

    Matgriff,

One other thing to add - it appears that error can also appear without a proxy for LiveUpdate access configured, but when the client is unable to reach its assigned LU destination.  Here again the actual issue is that the client can't connect, but this is being reported inaccurately with the proxy credential prompt.

I wanted to make you aware of this other scenario, in case you aren't using a proxy.  The fix the Devs have planned will cover this as well, returning a more accurate 'could not connect to LU' type of message in this situation.

    Yes, proxy in place here.

    Thanks for the advice.

    What kind of proxy?

Please note, even in SEP 14 RU1 you may receive a prompt for proxy credentials if the proxy address/port or LiveUpdate server cannot be reached, or if the proxy is of an unsupported type. SEP Mac LiveUpdate supports only HTTP(S) proxies; FTP/SOCKS proxies are unsupported. Proxy automatic configuration (via PAC file, etc) is supported (there was an Apple bug in macOS 10.13 and 10.13.1 that intefered with LiveUpdate and proxy auto-config, but this was addressed by Apple in macOS 10.13.2).

Hello, we still have this issue even though we are now using the latest build v14.0.3897.1101

Pop-up seems random, we cannot trigger it on demand.

My only thought is on Live Update the Mac is having issue with slow access via the proxy and the Live Update is timing out so showig this error.

All macs with this are 10.13.3 and proxy is zscaler

    Any help on this appreciated.

Please note, even in SEP 14 RU1 and SEP 14 RU1 MP1 you may receive a prompt for proxy credentials if the proxy address/port or LiveUpdate server cannot be reached,  If you suspect a timeout, I would look into that.

If you would like this investigated more I would suggest you open a case with Support.

Just to prove this is not just High Sierra related we ran 14RU1 on Sierra 10.12.6 and we see the same problem.
