ProxySG & Advanced Secure Gateway

A quote from the ProxySG Admin guide:

"The ProxySG appliance supports ICAP connections with external Content Analysis, ProxyAV, Blue Coat DLP, and other third party ICAP services."

Can I use the "Malware Scanning" policys (High Performance & Maximun Protection) and ICAP Best Practice CPL in combination with a third party ICAP server (virus scanner) or do they rely on any proprietary extensions to ICAP?

As far as I can see the Malware Scanning policy and ICAP Best Practice CPL just provide input to the proxys decision about what to scan and not how to scan.
But I migt be wrong.

You are correct regarding the icap best practises. Since you apply the configuration on the Proxy you do not in anyway tell the Content Analysis server how to handle the traffic.

Maximum protection includes all types of traffic but High performance exclude some file formats and file types (such as youtube video format) from scanning resulting in less load on the content scanner.
