Ghost Solution Suite

We are using Solutiuon suite 3.1 MP6 

We send an imaging task to a room of 20 pcs, (pcs set to boot to pxe first) 

Some of the PCs will boot to Winpe and start imaging 12 or so will load pxe and get an IP address and go to the next screen showing

Alrtiris  pre-select automation processing

UD 10.*.*.* 

The PCs will stay on this screen than until we press the restart button on each of he PCs (we have left them for 2 days ) - then they will load Winpe and image wihout any issues 

Is there something we can do to stop this happening and make it more reliable 

We have tried it in 10 different rooms of PCs and everytime we get the issue with at least half the PCs in each room. We have tried imaging in batches of 5 every 30 mins, imaging all the same time but the problem happens each time

Is this occuring when you reach a certain number of machines connected?

What operating system do you have GSS installed on?

We got the same Problem with some older HP PCs and could fix the Problem by Updating the BIOS.

No , sometime it can happen after 3 PCs have joined - in other rooms could be after 10 PCs. The confusing thing is that if we reboot the PC it will pull down the winpe and join the session with no issues. 

Its on server 2012 R2 and has SQL Server 2016 installed 

We tried updating the bios on some of them but made no difference. The PCs have a range of different motherboards in, Intel DH61CR, DH67, Asus B150, B85

That is interesting that it happens on a random number of connections... you say it shows

Is your pxe server on a 10.x.x.x subnet?

Yes pxe is on a 10.160 subnet and the ghost server is on a static ip We did a few more pcs Friday and have also noticed that when a pc is connected to the network (via a gig switch back to the server) but the pc auto negotiates to 100mb connection there are issues joining a pxe winpe session

I have tried rebooting the server and retrying the same room when we aren't doing any other imaging but we get the same problem

Are pxe and the ghost server not on the same static i.p. address?

Do you have i.p. helpers in place for imaging across subnets?

I would imagine this issue is network related... router etc... limiting throughput based on the demands of booting multiples machines to pxe at once. Has this worked properly for you in the past (recently)?

Yes they are on the same IP Address

No we dont image acorss sub nets as we have a server for each site 

we used 2.5 for about 8 years and had PXE running and it was pretty solid - since upgrading to Solution Suite 3 we have stated experiencing issues. This is the first full campus reimage we have tried as last year we were still running 2.5. 

When we exventaully get them in to WinPE it works fine - its just trying to get them to it is the problem

Have you disabled the 3com pxe services left over from Ghost 2.5? This can cause connectivity issues with the newer pxe servers.

I would recommend calling in and creating a support ticket. This issue needs to be explored further, possibly with a screenshare session so that a diagnosis can be found.
