I can not seem to get this to work....keep getting "invaild credentials" using WMI.  I have used the "Default Conncetion Profile" and have WMI turned "On", using:

    Runtime Credentials checked

    Runtime WMI Credentials

    Timeout 1000

    Retry 1

    Use authentication level is checked

    Authentication level is default.

    What am i doing wrong??!!

    Thanks for any help!

runtime wmi credentials by default are the application identity. does that account have enough rights on the system?

you can create your own set of credentials, try a local administrator of the machine you try to connect to. else check with tools like paessler wmitester if wmi is working after all or is blicked somehow.

Also check the availability of WMI through the network on Client side:
    Firewall; Remote management.
Also you can try to use the following RegKey on client:

For access to computer through WMI you need in registry key:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
create 32-bit DWORD: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy and set it value to: 1.

Account has full admin on both NS and client so should be good there.  I went ahead and tried the paessler wmi tester and that works fine so must be something else.

I even added the registry entry LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy and set it value to: 1 but still same

"Invaild credentials".  Going to log a support call.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Can you check with the "custom credentials" and "custom connection profile" will the problem still reproducible?

Also pay attention on information at the page where you see the "Invalid credentials",  the information about FQDN and\or IP corresponds to real client IP?

I tried a custom connection but still no luck.  When I create a custom credentials it doesnt show up under the drop down as a selected runtime credential.

Also I have confimed the IP address and host name.

HI, to view the custom credentials you need to uncheck the "Runtime credentials" checkbox on your screen.

Does anyone have this working in 7.1 SP2?  I'm starting to wonder if it's a bug.

    Hi nickmorea

Although I am only on testing phase at the moment I will confirm that it is working in 7.1 SP2.

Are you currently using the custom account from the credential management and are using that in the connection profile ?

I am also getting the Invalid Credentials message from the real time console.  We would like to start using it.  I have tried everything above.  Any other ideas?  Did anyone get this working?

I checked WMI on the local PC and to another over the network and it seems to work fine:

    Hi JAunmc,

Can I ask is this with Windows 7 boxes and the Altiris account is in the administrator group  ? Only reason I ask is beacause when I was testing everything was working just fine in XP but when switching to Win 7 this problem came up. After investigation I found that the admin group for XP had been moved into a nested AD group for Win 7.
