  • 1.  Receiving updates from a primary server

I just installed Endpoint 11 on a 2003 server. I am able to receive updates on this server, everything is working great.

We have another site that requires virus software installed, I set up another Endpoint server at this location, but I want this server to get the updates from my primary server. I can't get this to work.

On my secondary server I did the following.

    I selected my Local Site
Clicked edit Site Settings, and clicked on the Live Update tab
Clicked the Edit Source Servers button
Selected Use a specific internal Liveupdate server

Server name (Name of my server)
    URL:\\IP ADDRESS

    Put in my credentials.

    All seems good.

When I do a live update I get an error message. Live Update failed.

I can telnet to any port, so I know it is not blocked.

what am I doing wrong, if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

It doesn't work that way you need to sep up replication between both the SEPM Servers. In that you will have an option to replication definition updates

How to add an additional site to configure replication for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) using an Embedded Database
