    I'm still kind of new to ghost so I was looking for insight on an issue I am having. I am currently running my Ghost Soution Suite Console (3.2) from a server running windows server 2008 R2 and I am trying to create an image of an HP laptop running Windows 7. Every thing is running smoothly both the server and laptop can ping one another, I have the DAgent installed through the remote agent installer, and I have the automation folders installed but when I try to boot the computer into the Symantec Ghost Preboot Environment I'm getting the windows failed to start error witht the status code of 0x000000f. At this point I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the automation folders but nothing has worked. Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

    Jthomas,

    It sounds like the winpe environment may be corrupted...

    Are you running any anti-virus's on your GSS server?

     

    To re-import the winpe.. Close ghost, disable anti-virus (if applicable and only temporarily) and navigate to 

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server and delete the waik_winpe10 folder

     

    Open GSS and navigate to Tools->Boot Disc Creator, then Tools->Install Pre-Boot Operating Systems and import winpe10.

    After this completes you will need to re-install your automation folder on the client machine before attempting imaging again.

    Hello Brycen and thanks for the response. So I just looked over my server and there doesn't appear to be any antivirus software running on it. In regards to the boot disk creator stuff I did see that only WINPE 5X x86 and x64  were installed. I followed your process and now WINPE 10 x86 and x64 are both installed. Now I have tried re-installing the automation folders and I'm still getting that windows error. Did I need to go in and get rid of waik_winpe5 folder and also did I need to edit the configurations of my two existing automation folder configs. THanks again.AF_Capture.PNGWINPE10_Capture.PNG

    I wouldn't think you would need to remove the WAIK5 for this to work..

     

    Is the bios on the client machine legacy or EFI? Have you tried another model of machine or different computer?

    The BIOS is currently set to legacy and no I haven't tried a different a machine.

    Now I'm runninig into another issue. When trying to install automation folders onto another machine nothing is happening and the GSS freezes up.

    So the previous issue was resolved correct? If so... please mark the most relevant post as solution and create another post for the new issue.

    No, it's still not resolved. I was unable to test with another computer due to GSS freezing when I tried installing the automation folder.

    Clear the temp directory by typing %TEMP% in your folder pane and delete everything in there. Then attempt to install the automation folder once more please.

    No, it's still hanging up whenever I try to run the install.

    What specs do you have on the ghost server (CPU,RAM, etc..)?
