Redundant Messages: Old Virus Alerts treated as New Virus Alerts

I'm running Symantec Corporate Edition 10.1.7.7000 server edition.  80% of my clients are version 10.1.7.7000, the other 20% are at least 10.1.0.401.  AMS is setup to send an email every time a virus is detected on a client.  About 2 months ago, we started receiving redundant messages from clients about old detections.  For instance, a client will detect & quarantine a virus on Nov 31, 2007.  We will receive an email from the server not only on Nov 31, 2007, but also every other day or so after up to and including today.  I have tried running a repair on the Server side, and have uninstalled & reinstalled the client on troublesome clients.  I have also tried reducing the number of days the clients keep their history to 1 day.  This does resolve the issue, but I'd really like to be able to see the client history for at least the past 6 months/year.  Has anyone experienced any symptoms like this?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.
