  • 1.  Remote Client Installation: Error determining free space available

    Posted Jul 14, 2010 04:01 PM

I am receiving the following error:

    Failed to install:
        \\<machine name>
(45): Free space: Error determining free space available

The drive letter of the local disk is M: instead of C: which I assume is the issue. Is there a way to change the drive letter the remote installation looks for? Or a work around for this?

    Hi

I hope the below mentioned document will help you in fixing the issue.

    Thanks

Thanks, but that doesn't help. The server does not have a C: drive. The local disk is M:. When the install runs it is looking for the C: drive, but it doesn't exist.

Is there a way to specify the local disk is M:? The path \\<server name>\m$ works

    Hi

Please try installing the Symantec Ghost Client manually in the client machine as a workaround.

For this copy the 'client.msi' file from the 'C:\ProgramFiles\Symantec\Ghost\Client Install' folder to an external USB or a network share from where you could copy to the client machine. Now install the client.msi in the client machine.

During installation if prompted use ipaddress or server name of the Ghost Server machine to communicate with the Ghost Console.

    Hope this resolves your issue.

Thanks that worked. Would be nice to correct the remote install in a future update.

Are there any updates that address this issue.  It seems to be a basic function of Ghost, so I'm going to have to go to each machine and install by hand?
