  • 1.  Remote monitor service on Windows Server 2012?

    Posted Nov 20, 2014 12:16 PM

According to the Monitor Solution for Servers 7.5 SP1 user guide (http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC7212):

To install monitor service on a remote site server, the server must be running one
    of the following operating systems:
    ■ Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 x86
    ■ Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

This is located on page 36 of the User Guide.

Does this mean you can not have a Windows Server 2012 Site Server running Monitor service? Or is there just an update needed on the documentation?

    Hmm, sounds very strange...

If user will install SMS/ITMS 7.5 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2 Server, then RMS plug-in will be automatically installed on it and should work.

Did you try to install RMS plug-in on remote Windows 2012 R2 from SMP Console -> Site Server Management page?

    Thanks,

    IP.

No, I have not installed it yet. You are absolutely correct though. I am thinking it was an oversight in the documentation and was just looking for clarification. The reason why it made me think twice was the server OS for CEM Internet Gateway is only Server 2008 R2. I did not know if RMS may/may not have a requirement like this.
