Removing Duplicate Endpoints

How do I remove duplicate Endpoints from the SEPM? I see some Endpoint with duplicate hostnames but there are Endpoints (due to internal reasons) that show up with name ABC but then for some reason Helpdesk needs to change it to DEF and therefore the machine is no longer ABC and ABC needs to be deleted from the SEPM.

I"m told machines get renamed a lot. Is there any way to remove these duplicates machines so they dont eat up licenses?

If you don't have AD sync on than just delete from the Clients page by right clicking them and selectign Delete

See Mithun Articles for remove duplicate SEP client

Configure SEPM to remove clients which have not connected within a specific number of days.

    1. Open SEPM and select the Admin panel.
    2. Click on Servers
    3. Right click on the Site where your management servers are located and choose Edit Properties
    4. Check "Delete Clients that have not connected for __ Days"
    5. Enter a value for Days.
    6. Click OK.

NOTE: In version 12.1 of the SEPM, the location for adjusting the setting to delete clients which have not connected for X number of days has moved:

    1. In the SEPM, go to the Admin page.
    2. Select Domains.
    3. Under Tasks, select Edit Domain Properties.
    4. In the Edit Domain Properties window, on the default General tab, note the option to "Delete clients that have not connected for specified time."

Duplicate SEP clients appear in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console

Yes James007 is rite. Please follow the steps given by him, If configure the option delete the cleints that the client is not connected from 1 or 2 days then It will deletes the the duplicate enerties beacuse Duplicate enteries is not showing online on your Console. So it will simply solve your issue.

    In addtion to Brian.

What if the duplicate client was the one updated and not the original? Also, what if the duplicate client connected to the SEPM first than the original client?

If you can have duplicate entry then either remove it manually otherwise set the time average for "Delete clients that have not connected for specified time" that have mention by James.

It  can remove all those entry which can't be come online from mention time period and duplicate entries.
