    Why am I see this.

    Here is an example.

So I run a report on the number of machines that IBM client on there machine.
    Version 1 shows 1163
    Version 2 Shows       5
    Version 3 shows 6483
    Version 4 shows     21

So if you add up those 4 lines it come to 7672 machines

I only have 7031 machines showing under resources.

So where are the othe 600 plus machines comming from?  We only have 7000 machine in the enterprise.   My Database purges every 3 months.

I am trying to figure out how many machines I still need to update to at least version 3

    what am I doing wrong?

What's probably happening is that some machines have multiple versions on them.

You might also want to check the report "Computers with no configuration in last "n" days.  That report is under View > Reports > Notification Server Infrastructure > Agent > Configuration Request.  That will list machines that may be obsolete but are not old enough to have been purged.

The report you are running more then likely doesn't have a DISTINCT restriction setup on it. Without this you will see multiple entries for machines that have had previous versions installed & that information captured by NS.

The canned Anti-virus reports are notorious for showing machines under serveral different versions installed as they've gone through different upgrades.
