Hello we are just starting off the with Altrirs Management console our priority is the get the PCAnywhere agent working so we can remote control client computers.
We have the Symantec Managemet Platform 7.1 Sp2, with a ton of other items, among other the Dell Management Console and the PCAnywhere solution 12.6.7. this is running on a all in one setup Windows 2008 R2 server.
Our client machine are Windows 7 32bit sp1 with full UAC enabled.
-Symantec Management agent 7.1.15280.82.80 is installed with other modules including the
- pcAnywhere agent 12.6.8096
When deployed the pcAnywere agent is setup setting - Windows Use AD authenication type, We added a group - user and a domain admin account -superuser all other settings are default.
When I use the console to conenct : Action \ Remote management \ remote control \ I find the target computer connect, I am then prompted with the logon screen, none of the credentials I supply allow the login, I tried user how of a member of the AD group set up as User, and the domain admin setup as the superuser.
So the Awhost32.exe on the client computer using the the AD authenication, how do I fix this ?
I found the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\pcAnywhere\aw.pl9 log file
it shows my connection attemps with an domain account these fail.
I was finaly able to connect by usig the Local computer Admin account. (not my intended setup at all)

So I'm just guessing at how this client works, the awhost32.exe uses the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\pcAnywhere\Hosts\pcaNSHost.BHF file for the Authentication information but my server side Policy does not seem to have trickled down.
I also noticed a C:\ProgramData\Symantec\pcAnywhere\PC\pcAPolicy.xml file. I was out of date, I had a prevous version of the pcAnywere agent.
I renamed file, had a Altris cleint agent check for updates and a new file was downloaded pcApolicy.xml but now the awhost32.exe will not run it starts and terminates after a system reboot or when I manualy start it.
Pointers suggestions please ?
Naim.
