  • 1.  Rtvscan.exe - Application Error

I have a couple of XP SP2 systems running SAV 10.1.6.6000 that are giving me an "Rtvscan.exe - Application Error: The instruction at "0x77fcc8e1" referenced memory at 0x00000000..." error at shutdown. I did a little searching, and the only hits I have found thus far point to DirectX issues. I have verified that the latest version of DirectX (9.0c) is installed on these systems, and the DirectX Diagnostic Tool has revealed no problems. Has anyone else seen this problem, and if so, has a fix for it been discovered?

    TIA,
    Jon

    Jon -

Symantec has release Maintenance Patch 1 that addresses the rtvscan.exe error during shutdown.  After the application of the patch, the version should be 10.1.6.6010.  The errors should go away after applying the patch...

    Thanks
    Fede

Since I don't know how to post a new message, I thought I would reply to this one with a question I have regarding rtvscan.exe.

Using Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition 10.1 and the Symantec System Center, is there anyway I can change the settings on how much CPU or memory the rtvscan.exe uses?  For example, I know with McAfee, you are able to adjust the CPU settings when a client is looking for updated DAT's.  Is there a way you can manage the CPU/memory usage of the rtvscan.exe service?

As for my posting a new message, how do I do it?  I read the help and it says,

"Go to the board you want to post on, and click the New Message link near the top of the message list.

On the Post Message page, you will see a Subject area and a Body area."

And I do not see New Message anywhere...

So if anyone could help me out in regards to my rtvscan.exe and Posting a New Message question, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    Ben

The button says "Start a new discussion", for example on this page:  https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/security/forums/endpoint-protection  it is directly below the tabs to click on for forums/articles/blogs etc.  I have no idea on your other problem.
