    Hello!

    I hope someone can help me with this Problem. I got this message in the event log "Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- A newer version of this software is already installed on this machine." on every Client which i want to upgrade from SAV 9 to SEP 11.

    How can i upgrade this Clients? I need to install them silently?

    Hi,


    what I know is that a previous installation could be damaged.
    Did you prepare your clients for the migration? CD1 > Installation_guide.pdf > section 3 > chapter 8 > Preparing legacy installations for migration.
    If you can, I suggest you to uninstall SAV 9 and install SEP 11 as a fresh installation. In case you have problem in the SAV 9 removal, our Support provides the CleanWipe (or similar) tool to remove this product.

    thanks at first ...

    I tested about 20 Clients, the Installation is ok. I tried also everything of the "preparing for migration". No way, :(

    Does someone have an idea?

    Its like this Problem: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/symantec-client-security-already-installed

    Does someone know if there is a Key like this "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UpgradeCodes\E761730C408BDBC4D825D7A248EB45F3" for SAV 9?

    Uninstall SAV 9 is not a good idea for me cause i have about 500 Clients. :(

    Good Morning,

    I had the same problem updating my SAV 9 clients - SEP wasn´t able to remove SAV 9 in my case!
    I tried several solutions, including the upgrade to SAV 10 which could be removed by SEP setup.

    But in most cases, removing the client with CleanWipe was the only thing that worked...:-(
