  • 1.  SAV v8.x removal

The ( REMOVE ) in add/remove programs didn't work. Gave me a ( Fatal Error ) if I recall correctly. I cranked up regedit to remove it. I searched for, and removed: SAV Antivirus Norton And I moved/removed the programs in ( Program Files ). I STILL can't install a newer version ( either v10.x or 11.x ). It says that I have to finish removing any previous version(s). Under: HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CONTROLSET001 CONTROLSET003 CURRENTCONTROLSET ENUM ROOT LEGACY_NORTON_ANTIVIRUS_SERVER LEGACY_SAVRTPEL LEGACY_SYMEVENT I can't get rid of these. And I can't rename them. ( And I admit I don't know if I need to even worry about the last two (2). Anyone have a CLUE as to how to get rid of this/these? And whatever ELSE I may need to get rid of? Thanks, Tom

Please try to use Microsoft Clean-up Utility

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Then try to install the new version.

Thanks! The good news is that this worked. It allowed me to install a newer version. The bad news is...that I somehow managed to break Live Update. I can't crank it up to update the def files and/or engine. It immediately quits saying that I should check that I can get to the Internet. ( I CAN. ) So I tried to REMOVE the version I just installed. Of course THAT fialied. So then I REMOVED Live Update. THAT worked. Then I tried to REMOVE the SAV I had just installed ( v10.x )...again. Again it filed. So I TRIED to install v11.x. And of course...THAT FAILED. I TRIED to REMOVE it. Yes, it FAILED as well. I'm s SICK AND TIRED of this...NONSENSE...I can't tell you. I'm going to try and find docs on removing v10.x & 11.x. If anyone knows where it is, or anything else that might help, please advise... Thanks for your help, Tom
