Messaging Gateway

I am trying to run the SBG virtual machine on a vSphere 4 server (ESX 4.0). I copy the VM into the datastore, add it to the inventory and when I want to start it, it says that the "hard disk type" is not supported. When I go to change the settings for the VM, the hard disk is greyed out.

Any ideas?
