    All,

I have setup Endpoint Protection Small Business v12 on a fresh install of MS SBS 2008.  After manually opening port 8014 on the server everything kicked into life.  There is one remaining issue, the console is unable to send email notifications and there is no test facility other than during the initial install.  From another forum post someone helpfully pointed out that clicking 'Forgot Password' at the logon screen gives you away to test the email settings, sort of!

I currently have it set up as:
    Server address: servername
    Port: 25
    Usernames: it@domain.com
    Password: ********

With either the username and password filled in or left blank, the emails fail to send.  Being SBS2008 it has Exchange 2007 running locally so there shouldn't be any authentication issues either. I have also tried it with UAC turned off and 'Run As Administrator'

Has anyone managed to get this running on such a configuration?

    Thanks,
    Daniel.

    Hi,

Please refer to the following KB article:

    http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/b4a0c2e939160fcf882575d3006f2a32?OpenDocument

By default, Exchange 2007 on those platforms requires users to authenticate using NTLM authentication. Symantec Protection Center does not support NTLM authentication.
To work around the problem, either use an external email address, or configure Exchange 2007 to allow anonymous logins from the Symantec Protection Center server.

    Best,
    Aniket

Thanks for the info.  This is now working.  I take it this is a secure configuration for Exchange or Symantec are looking at introducing NTLM support.

    Much appreciated!
