  • 1.  Scheduled scan stopped working

    Hi,
    I'm using SEP 11.0.4014.26 with WinXP SP3 on a Dell Optiplex 760. I've had a scheduled scan running a daily active scan for a year or so without any probems and it has suddenly stopped running since 23rd April. It is still defined in Scheduled Scans as active and if I click on run active scan it works fine. Automatic updates work fine daily.
    A monthly scheduled full scan works fine too.
    I tried altering the time, which had no effect and then deleting the existing daily scan and creating a new one. It appears in the Status page as next scheduled scan but disappears at the scheduled time without the scan actually starting.
    Any ideas please

    Are you getting any errors on the client? Check the logs to see if anything is showing up. Also, I would recommend upgrading to the latest release, RU6a.

    You mentioned that the scheduled Active scan worked fine for almost a year. Therefore there is definitely some environmental change which has triggered this issue. To start with boot the system in safe mode and check for the scheduled scan. If it works fine you will have to go to MSCONFIG and find the recent application which is causing the error. If it does not then try removing this machine from the network and then check.

    Do you see any relevant information in the scan logs?. 

    You mentioned that the scan stopped running since 23rd April. The events logged in the event viewer at that particular date should be of some help.

    Hi, thanks for your reply. There are no errors in the logs and no risks found. This morning however, the scheduled scan ran normally. SEP updates itself daily, so I'm not sure if an update has affected it

    Hi Sandip, I checked the event logs and the SEP logs and there is nothing that seems relevant. However the scan ran normally this morning. SEP updates itself daily so I don't know if that's relevant. I'll keep an eye on it
